On December 6, 2024, Pelita Global Mandiri Kindergarten held an exciting cooking activity titled “Cooking 2: Making Es Pisang Ijo from Makassar”. This event, which took place in the kindergarten classrooms, was attended by 139 students from Playgroup, Pre-K, KG1, and KG2. The activity aimed to introduce the children to a traditional Indonesian dessert, Es Pisang Ijo, a famous treat from South Sulawesi.
Es Pisang Ijo is a delicious dessert made from banana wrapped in a green dough, served with sweet syrup, ice, and coconut milk, offering a perfect blend of textures and flavors. During the event, the students learned about the origins of this popular dessert from Makassar and had the opportunity to create their own version of Es Pisang Ijo, guided by their teachers.
The children eagerly participated in the hands-on experience, learning how to wrap bananas in green dough, prepare the syrup, and assemble the dessert. It was not only a fun activity but also an opportunity for the students to discover the rich culinary heritage of Indonesia.

Ms. Shafa, the event coordinator, shared her excitement about the event:
“The children were very enthusiastic about making Es Pisang Ijo! It was wonderful to see them engage with the process and learn about Indonesian culture through food. They were thrilled to see the final product and even more excited to taste it!”
This cooking activity was a fantastic way to introduce young learners to traditional Indonesian cuisine while promoting hands-on learning and cultural awareness. By participating in this fun and interactive activity, the students gained a deeper appreciation for the diversity of Indonesian food and the skills involved in preparing it.
Overall, the event was a great success, and it was yet another example of Pelita Global Mandiri Kindergarten’s commitment to providing meaningful and engaging educational experiences that celebrate both learning and cultural exploration.
