The event, which took place at the school’s premises, saw the enthusiastic participation of all 220 students from grades 1 to 6. This hands-on event encouraged students to explore different forms of craft-making while developing practical skills that promote independence and problem-solving.

Each grade level engaged in a different crafting activity that was both educational and enjoyable:

  • Grade 1 students learned the process of making salted eggs, gaining an understanding of how traditional food products are prepared.
  • Grade 2 students were tasked with making tempe, a staple food in Indonesian culture, where they explored fermentation processes and the importance of food sustainability.
  • Grade 3 students worked on crafting beautiful bead necklaces and making refrigerator magnets, which helped them enhance their fine motor skills and creativity.
  • Grade 4 students made macrame keychains, a skill that involved knotting techniques and attention to detail.
  • Grade 5 students experimented with making aromatherapy candles, a fun and fragrant way to engage with crafting while learning about the benefits of essential oils.
  • Grade 6 students created flannel fabric crafts, an intricate project that challenged their patience and design skills.

The event was spearheaded by Ms. Ririn, the event coordinator, who shared her thoughts on the success of the day:
“The event went smoothly, and it was amazing to see how excited the students were. They were fully engaged and eager to participate in every activity. It was heartwarming to see how proud they were of the items they made, and it really highlighted their creativity and enthusiasm for learning new things.”

This entrepreneurial activity was not just about making crafts; it aimed to inspire students to think creatively, work collaboratively, and gain hands-on experience in product creation. By engaging in these practical tasks, students also learned valuable lessons about perseverance, teamwork, and the importance of hard work. The event was a reminder of how extracurricular activities can play a significant role in developing both the cognitive and emotional growth of young learners.

Overall, the event was a resounding success, offering students a fun yet educational experience that reinforced Pelita Global Mandiri Elementary’s commitment to providing a well-rounded education that nurtures both academic and personal growth.
