On January 11, 2025, Pelita Global Mandiri Elementary School proudly celebrated the achievement of one of its outstanding students, Aksel Immanuel Sianturi, who participated in the Fermat Mathematical Olympiad (FMO) 2024 held in Vietnam. Competing against some of the brightest young mathematicians from around the world, Aksel successfully secured a Merit Award, bringing honor to his school and country.
The Fermat Mathematical Olympiad (FMO) is an annual international competition developed and hosted by Fermat Education Vietnam, the official organizing body of numerous prestigious international Olympiads. The competition is known for its challenging problems that test logical reasoning, problem-solving skills, and mathematical creativity. Participants from different countries gather to showcase their abilities and engage in a stimulating intellectual exchange.
Aksel’s achievement is a testament to his dedication, perseverance, and passion for mathematics. Competing on an international stage not only challenged him academically but also provided him with the opportunity to meet and interact with fellow young mathematicians from diverse backgrounds. Reflecting on his experience, Aksel shared:
“I feel happy and grateful to have participated in this Olympiad. I had the chance to meet new friends from different countries, and it was an incredible learning experience. In the future, I will strive to do even better.”
