On December 10, 2024, Pelita Global Mandiri Elementary held a heartfelt Christmas Celebration, bringing together students, teachers, and staff to commemorate the spirit of unconditional love. This special event was attended by 220 students from Grades 1 to 6, with all students participating in their own ways. While Christian students and teachers engaged in a Christmas service, students of other faiths also took part in religious activities led by their respective teachers. Later, everyone came together for a series of general activities, fostering a sense of unity and togetherness.
The Christmas service was led by Pastor Kak Melda, who shared a meaningful message of faith, love, and unity with the Christian students and teachers. The highlight of the service was the Candlelight Ceremony, where students and teachers held glowing candles while singing “Malam Kudus” (Silent Night) in a serene and heartfelt atmosphere. The warm flicker of candlelight symbolized hope, peace, and love, making the moment incredibly sacred and touching. As Pastor Kak Melda delivered the Word of God, the children listened attentively, embracing the essence of Christmas with joy and gratitude.
For students of other faiths, separate worship sessions were held, allowing them to reflect and connect spiritually in their own way. This inclusive approach underscored the values of respect and harmony among different religious communities at Pelita Global Mandiri.
Beyond the worship service, the celebration also featured general activities where all students, regardless of their faith, participated together. A shared meal brought everyone together, reinforcing the sense of community and family. The excitement continued with a puppet show, performed by the teachers of Pelita Global Mandiri Elementary. The play, centered around the theme of family values and kindness, left the children entertained while also imparting meaningful life lessons.
Reflecting on the event, Pastor Kak Melda expressed her joy and pride in witnessing the students’ enthusiasm and heartfelt appreciation for Christmas. She shared, “I am so proud and happy to see the children welcome Christmas with such joy and sincerity. It was truly a blessing to share the Word of God with them and celebrate this special occasion together with love and happiness.”
The Pelita Global Mandiri Christmas Celebration was more than just an event—it was a beautiful reminder of the power of love, unity, and faith. It demonstrated that the true meaning of Christmas lies not only in traditions but also in embracing one another with kindness and compassion, regardless of differences. Through this celebration, students learned that unconditional love is a gift that should be shared with everyone.
