Pelita Global Mandiri Kindergarten held a heartwarming event titled “My Lovely Family” on August 27, 2024, where all kindergarten students took part in a special presentation about their family members. The purpose of the event was to help children understand the roles and responsibilities within their families. Each child was asked to describe what their family members do: children were reminded to tidy up their toys after playing, mothers prepare meals and organize school supplies, and fathers work hard to support the family, ensuring their children can go to school comfortably.
The children were also encouraged to wear outfits that represented their favorite family member. Some children wore hair rollers and house dresses, imitating their mothers at home, while others dressed neatly as if their mothers were going to work. The event also featured a compilation of video clips submitted by the parents, showcasing quality time spent with their families. The videos showed activities such as family exercise in the evening, camping trips, snippets from a trip to Japan, and moments of cooking together.
In addition to the presentations and videos, the children were asked to bring their family’s favorite food. One child brought otak-otak because their mother loves it. The event fostered a deeper bond between the children and their parents by emphasizing the importance of spending time together and appreciating the unique roles within their families.
The event was led by each class’s homeroom teacher, with the goal of strengthening the relationship between parents and children through these engaging and meaningful activities.
